Short Curriculum Vitae
Ioannis Paradisanos received his PhD in Physics from the University of Crete in 2018, specializing in the optical properties and excitonic physics of atomically thin semiconductors. He subsequently joined the University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral research associate, where he worked on the optical and vibrational properties of layered materials. From 2019 to 2022 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Quantum Optoelectronics group in Toulouse, focusing on transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers and their heterostructures. In 2022 he joined IESL/FORTH as a Principal Investigator with funding from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.), leading research on light–matter interactions in nanophotonic platforms incorporating two-dimensional semiconductors. He was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Crete in 2025. He has published 45 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and 1 book chapter. His work has received 2432 citations, with an h-index of 26 and an i10-index of 36 (Google Scholar, December 2025). He is an active member of the American Physical Society and has served as guest editor in international scientific journals.
