Περίληψη / Abstract

The object of the doctoral study is the analysis and design of optimized nonlinear electromagnetic metasurfaces. With the term ‘metasurfaces’ we mean artificial thin films, composed of a periodic array of structural elements (known as meta-atoms), that can exhibit non-conventional optical properties such as negative refractive index and artificial magnetism. These properties result from the proper design of the meta-atom resonances and can be tailored at will by designing these meta-atoms (choosing properly the shape, size, array and the material).
