Περίληψη / Abstract

Development of Low Refractive Index Materials for Microfluidic Applications in Optofluidic Chips.

My PhD project, conducted within the European NEXTSCREEN network, focuses on the development of novel low-refractive index polymeric materials for advanced microfluidic device applications.

The primary objective is the synthesis and characterization of fluorinated polymers that are compatible with biological environments, aiming to minimize optical distortions in lab-on-chip systems. Using both controlled and free radical polymerization techniques, the materials are optimized for their optical, mechanical, and chemical properties, furthermore, a key objective is to adapt these materials for Two-Photon Polymerization, enabling high resolution 3D microfabrication. Ultimately, the project aims to fabricate microfluidic devices with enhanced optical performance, opening new possibilities in flow cytometry and single cell analysis.
